A message from our founder Martina Molsbergen Tamaro

A message from our founder Martina Molsbergen Tamaro

The C14 Foundation has emerged out of a life-long desire to make a bigger difference in the world, and in particular, to improve basic needs for the poorest of the poor, who suffer every single day and cannot change their stars. Since this is an enormous task to manage, I hope to build out model examples that others may be inspired to mimic.

Like so many of us working in the private sector for decades, my view of the world greatly expanded as I experienced more of it, especially seeing poverty up close and personal. My first trip to India in 1995 startlingly revealed the reality that so many people were living like sewer rats in decrepit and inhumane conditions, suffering on a daily basis from disease and malnutrition, picking through garbage and debris to find anything that appeared edible, and struggling just to exist. I witnessed very young children performing hard manual labor jobs just to be able to eat. And I saw marginalized people who could not change their circumstances or improve their lives no matter how hard they strived. This first hand glimpse at human suffering haunted me for decades. So, I promised myself that at some point in my life, I would find a way to help the poorest of the poor.

Planting the seed for The C14 Foundation came as I hit a milestone birthday and realized that my time was ticking, and this desire just could no longer remain just a thought. I knew my purpose in life was to feed God’s children. What did that mean? How was I to accomplish this? Well, it took some soul searching, networking with those in the know, and throwing lots of ideas against the wall before deciding the best path forward.

I began taking part in a community outreach program; during my vacation time, I began traveling to Haiti and India with a volunteer group to bring medicines to tremendously impoverished communities. But I wanted to do more. Today, my goal is to leverage what I’ve learned in business development for some of the largest and most innovative life sciences and biotechnology companies in the world, to grow teams, grow resources, and grow self-sustainable solutions for those areas that are hardest hit by lack.

Please follow us as we take this journey together. If you can, join us. If you can’t join us, please consider donating to the Foundation. My personal commitment to our supporters is to provide complete transparency in how our resources are allocated. Every donation goes directly to those we serve.

I can only extend my sincere gratitude for your kindness and generosity. It means so much to the people who suffer daily – just to survive. Together I have hope that we can lift the poorest of the poor out of suffering and into lives in which their basic needs are met through their own self-sustaining efforts.
