June 5 charity gala raised $129,000 for medical missions to Haiti and sustainable solutions to meet the needs of impoverished
On June 5, we held a jubilant fundraising event at The Fillmore in Philadelphia. Approximately 2,300 tickets were sold, raising $129,000 for The C14 Foundation. The energy in the room was fantastic; guests went all-out, wearing gladiator- and goddess-themed regalia, high fashion, and masquerade costumes. For 2019, the Foundation has selected four charities that will benefit from the gala: St Jude Clinic (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), Blue Sky Surgical (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), and The C14 Foundation’s own initiative, the Soilless Agriculture Project (India and Haiti).
I am thankful for and overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for our efforts. After decades in business development for biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, I felt a strong pull to turn my attention to these unmet needs and have traveled with other volunteers to be of service in Haiti and India. It’s been incredible that so many colleagues and friends (old and new) have joined us in funding projects that make self-sustainability a possibility for many who struggle to survive every day.
