Medical Missions

On a mission to deliver healthcare and teach good health practices

Our volunteer team of physicians, surgeons, specialists, nurses, and pharmacy personnel offer free medical care and attention to the poorest of the poor. In 2016, we commenced our efforts in the Port au Prince area of Haiti supporting medical mission teams in two clinics and one hospital, however, the crisis situation in Haiti escalated making it is no longer safe to visit and forcing many hospitals and clinics to close including ours. Hence, our medical mission teams have now pivoted our efforts to Honduras.

Contaminated water sources, a lack of sanitation, and persistent malnutrition combine to create an environment in which disease thrives. In these areas, we continue to provide free surgical and medical care while also working to educate communities about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Our team remains committed to delivering compassionate healthcare to those most in need.

What we know:

  • Many communities in Central America lack access to basic healthcare, especially in rural and mountainous regions.
  •
  • In places like Honduras, individuals living on less than $1/day cannot afford specialists, medications, or even basic clinic visits.

  • Public health education on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention is critically limited or nonexistent.

  • The burden of diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and arthritis often goes untreated for years.

  • Volunteer medical brigades play a vital role in delivering urgent care, surgeries, and education to patients who otherwise would have no access.

Medical Missions Bring

healing, hope, and humanity

With the support of our volunteers and partners, our medical missions now operate primarily in Honduras, focusing on both primary care and surgical services.

  • Our St. Norbert Medical Team partners with One World Surgery in Tegucigalpa to run a full-scale clinic offering internal medicine, OB/GYN, orthopedic surgeries, and nutrition counseling. Over 90 patients are seen daily in primary care, and more than 100 orthopedic procedures are performed per week.

  • Our BlueSky Surgical Brigade collaborates with Manos Amigos Clinic in La Entrada, offering OB/GYN, pediatric, surgical, and primary care services to over 1,000 patients in just one week. More than 100 surgeries are performed, and 50+ ultrasounds provided.

  • Outreach teams travel to extremely remote villages—sometimes setting up makeshift clinics in abandoned monasteries—with no electricity or running water. These clinics treat long lines of patients, many of whom have never before seen a doctor.

Stories From The Field

“This is the simple life, but then again, it’s full of different kinds of hardships and struggles—the kind that go unnoticed by most people in developed nations—the kind that cause unnecessary suffering and pain.”

From caring for Carmen, a 59-year-old mother of four seeking arthritis surgery, to comforting Alejandro, a 73-year-old farmer diagnosed with colon cancer, our teams serve patients with dignity, compassion, and expert care. These moments are deeply personal and unforgettable for both the patients and volunteers.

“Dr. Ralph is changing the stars of his patients because he cares so very much… He is explaining diseases to patients who are mostly illiterate and uneducated—giving them not only hope, but understanding.”

Our teams also educate and empower communities. From nutrition counseling to disease prevention, we ensure that each visit plants seeds for long-term wellness, not just short-term relief.
